The next update to Keep Your Word, our vocabulary and flashcards trainer is almost done.

These are some of the new features:

A new exercise mode

kyw_16_written.png

Keep Your Word will (kindly) ask you to write the translation of a given collection of words, evaluating and tracking your performance.

A new way to review your words

kyw_16_carousel.png

The Words Carousel is a panel that can be placed on top of any other window, and that lets you review your words while working on any other task.

More layout options

A new column in the words list shows the “score” a measure of how well you know a word. Also, you can show or hide the words count in the source list.

There are some bugfixes, some usability improvements, a new help file, and some more other features that we hope you will enjoy.

Oh, and if you want to take an early look at this new release, please let us know.

iLoveMacApps reviews Keep Your Word

09 July 2009 Categories: bambooapps, kyw

Another nice review of Keep Your Word, this time by the folks behind iLoveMacApps, a blog dedicated to review Mac OS X applications, and definitely a good read.

The veredict? They like it, although they point out one the application’s weakest points: the need to bring more content to wordsparade.com (we are working on it, by the way)

Vous et Votre Mac reviews Keep Your Word

02 July 2009 Categories: bambooapps, kyw

Vous et Votre Mac, a magazine now in press stands in France, Belgium and Switzerland, publishes a comparison between Keep Your Word, our vocabulary and flashcards trainer, and Mental Case.

Although I think that comparing these two application is a little bit unfair for both of them, as the core functionality and workflow are not exactly the same, it is good to see how KYW gains some apreciation.

¿The verdict? Keep Your Word gets four stars.

The road to Keep Your Word 1.5

06 April 2009 Categories: bambooapps, kyw

There are still a few things to be implemented, and too much testing to be done, but Keep Your Word 1.5 is almost done.

These are some of the new features.

Integrated word inspector.
road_15_1.png

The word inspector is now part of the main interface, and is divided into three different tabs. One of them is dedicated to “media”, and as you can see in the screenshot, it includes audio: two different sound files can be assigned to every word.

road_15_3.png

The main reason behind dividing the word inspector intro three tabs, is the new support for declesions, meaning: “cards can have multiple sides”.

By the way, the audio files asigned to a word can be played when browsing the flashcards.

road_15_4.png

And, also, cards can be marked as “I knew it”, or “I had no idea” (I am still looking for a good name for this feature)

road_15_5.png

These are some of the most important new features, but not the only ones, coming to the next version of Keep Your Word.

If you want to give them a try before the official release, drop us a line.
