Will there be an iPhone version of Keep Your Word?

Well, some of you have asked exactly that: will there be an iPhone version of Keep Your Word?

The short answer is: yes.

The long answer is: well, we want to do it, really, we do. However, we don’t know exactly how to do it. Let me explain…

Right now, there is no way (supported, documented, even frameworked way) to sync data between a Mac and an iPhone.

We could develop a standalone client for the iPhone, just an iPhoned version of Keep Your Word, but that is not exactly what we want to do. What we want, is to use the iPhone version as an extension of the desktop version, a short of “exercises notebook” where you could sync a set of words (the size of the set being up to you), and do exercises against that set of data.

Of course, it will be possible to add new words on the go using the iPhone client, but that adds to the problem, which is that right now, there is no way to sync and merge the data.

Of course, we could (will have to) work something out. However, we don’t know how long it will take us.

So, yes, there will be an iPhone version. Sadly, we still can not give an estimated date of release.

Ask for help from 1Password or other app developers they have way to sing passwords so I don’t see a reason why there would be no way to sync flash cards.

Sync via WiFi thats what many other applications does right now.

You can also sync via web-server. User will need to create an account and user web to organize library. Adding Features like sharing dictionaries with other iphone or desktop users or students would be really great.

    Thanks for your input Paulius.

The sync protocol we are developing works over wifi. However there is still a long way to go…

    Hi Tony

Thanks for the offer. Right now we are still trying to decide how the workflow of the iPhone app will be, so it is a bit early to think about coding. But we have your email…

Not yet. We have a working version, but not yet complete, that we are testing, but it still is going to take some more time.
